You stupid fuck. You havnt seen it. Your like the rest of the god damned liberals that believe it was a money making skit. Why would 10% of the proceeds go to memorial funds? Movies never do shit like that! Also, if you see it, which you wont, you will realize that its more then a money maker. No one said one GOD DAMNED WORD when they left that movie theater.

Oh god, it's like I'm talking to your cousin. First Mitch, shut up. If your arguing with someone the worst, WORST thing you could do is start out by insulting them. It makes the other person seem smarter. I may disagree with you on the whole thing but I still don't want you to come off as an asshole. Or I could have. You don't know. Please take this into consideration when you get mad at me or anyone in the near future. Your like the rest of the god damned liberals Not all liberals think that way Mitch. Grouping together a bunch of people who believe in the same thing might be considered racism. that believe it was a money making skit. Why would 10% of the proceeds go to memorial funds? Why not more? Twenty, maybe thirty percent would seem more reasonable. Movies never do shit like that! Oh Mitch. You never do any research before you say stuff like that. This movie isn't the first to do something like that. And it's not going to be the last either. Also, if you see it, which you wont, you will realize that its more then a money maker. Uhhh... Mitch, the whole point of your little rant is to tell me that the film WASN'T made to be a money maker. You just wrote that it IS a money maker, while being something else to. Please, wait ten minutes before you write something while angry. No one said one GOD DAMNED WORD when they left that movie theater. Considering you live in the red states Mitch that doesn't surprise me. OH! Look at me! I'm grouping people! Oops! Also, it worries me that people weren't even discussing it.

This is a great movie but I never want to watch it again. Discuss.

It's funny. This movie shows, more than ever, how REDICULOUS the whole situation was.
If this wasn't based on a "true" story (and a mostly fabricated one, at that), this movie would be panned for requiring extreme suspension of disbelief.

I saw this film and it made me angry. Very, very angry. You can do the whole "ignorant dumb American" bit all you want to, but it won't change the reality. The reality is that they knew they were most likely going to die, but they tried. They didn't give up. It wasn't easy and it wasn't pleasant. I know it is cool now to hate America and to call all Americans dumbasses who are rednecks and how we need to be more "sensitive". Whatever. The reality is that this could have been you. It doesn't matter who the president is or who has an (R) or a (D) or even the rare (I) by their name, it doesn't matter how "diverse" you want to be. These people did NOT give a shit and would have killed you and cratered you into the soil just the same. You don't have to be political or even think the President is a good guy, hell you don't even have to enlist or do anything. But just think for a minute and be aware that if you had been on one of those planes you probably wouldn't have done a god damned thing different and you would have been killed just the same because someone, somewhere thought that his ways and his god was better than yours and felt that you had to die for it too. I'm sorry, but I feel absolutely no sympathy for anything that is done to these people or those that harbor them. If what we are doing is murder and genocide in the middle east then so be it. I feel it is better them than us. And for the record, they started it.

It's funny how you can't have an opinion on here without someone thinking you're saying it to be edgy or offensive.
I fucking hate this movie with a passion and I think it's absolutely tasteless to make a movie about this kind of thing so close to it happening, regardless of whether or not it was staged.
>> Anonymous 04/30/06(Sun)18:26 No.15230
>>15226 your opinion contradicts your idea of how hating something only leads to a never endless confrentation. You say you hate something yet pose no real reason other then offense and there for you have no tolerance. and someone will come along, point that out, or take it out of context and the war will continue. Problem is no one NO one in the world can ever find equal ground, sure you hate something someone else likes but all you can do is just say why you hate it and simply find no reason to accept it. Why not say "Well the timing of this movie was a terrible idea but it did do a good job of showing the people who did their best and gave their OWN lives to stop these people who devalued their lives for an unjust cause"

How can you be sure it's an unjust cause anyway? There are NO certainties in the world, aside from the 'cogito ergo sum'. meh...I probably won't see it. I don't see why we need a Hollywood-ized version of something that happened almost 5 years ago...that we could probably catch on the discovery channel if we wanted. You can't really "jazz up" United 93 with some love story the way they did with Titanic either.

I, for one, welcome 9/11 movies without praising or blaming anyone and sensationalization. It's just a neutral and rational visualization from the flight data and voice recorder.

It's no use trying to use reason on 4chan. There isn't enough maturity or common sense here for it.
And even then, your opinions don't matter. The events of the world are beyond your control anyways and it doesn't matter how much of a coffee shop liberal or an atheist you are. They don't care.
All I know is, is that it happened. It was real and this is a movie about those events. No amount of sensitivity, "reasoning", "understanding" or "we are the world" is going to change that. Nor is "America sucks, look how cool I am". Sorry. I'm just glad that there are still people in this country still willing to fight and be angry over the travesty. I don't care how many countries we piss off or how many children we orphan. Piss on us, we shit on you. That should be America's international policy.
We now return you to ignorant liberalism and blind rationalization. Sorry for the interruption.
>> Anonymous 05/01/06(Mon)00:03 No.15413
ya know what would have been a better idea for this movie? I'd focus solely on the lives of the passengers pre-doomed flight. Have the whole movie focus on each character building them up for the real people that they were and then end it with them boarding the plane. I mean, we all know what happened, why the fuck is it nesscary to make a film all about this one horrible event. Or hell, they could have spent the budget for this film on a very nice monument for the poor souls. Making a film about it just seems kinda low-brow to me.
It's not a terrible film, just not very interesting or remotely entertaining. Just makes you feel bad about what happened, and as it turns I already felt bad about what happened.
>> Anonymous 05/01/06(Mon)00:06 No.15415
>>15320 Exactly.
Also, the reason why those folks on the Flight 93 are hailed as "heroes" is because they did best to their ability as the everday civilians caught up in terrorist politics.
They didn't have a nice tea and conference for the sake of American politics then decided to attack. Atleast according to all the reports of the phone messages, flight recordings and the flight orientation according to the black-box.
It was an honest little act of heroism from people like you and me who were thrust into a bad situation.
Politics be damned. That's really not the point here.
>> Anonymous 05/01/06(Mon)00:07 No.15416
>>15413 The "monument" is there but in another way. The victims' families will get a huge sum of the profits for the movie. I know how it seems "lowbrow" and all, but if that's what the victims' families wants, let them do it.
>> SamaSan !0rnzEfj0SI 05/01/06(Mon)00:15 No.15420
>>15416 You know what? I agree with that. People may whine and complain about the sensitive nature of it, but if the families of the victims wants the heroism/acts-of-defense shown on the big theaters and let the world know about it, then that's their will. Also, even compared to all the conspiracy theories surrounding most other 9/11 incidents, the one for Flight 93 probably made the most sense to be turned into a movie like this. Also, I think the movie would be too overbearingly difficult to watch if we all had to watch the victims' former lives previous to the incident. Just me saying that though.
There's that and the documentaries that aired in some historical channels earlier this year. I liked the one narrated by Keifer Sutherland. But yeah. It's just hard watching the tragic story unfold over and over again.
